The "Do Your Homework" Factor |
These factors will help keep things fair, realistic, and tethered to the games somewhat. If in doubt, just imagine what would happen if you were in your opponent's situation in the games.
- The League Factor: Compare "Leagues Conquered" when considering who will win the battle, i.e. a trainer who has seen 3 leagues is going to have more experience than a trainer who has only seen one; therefor the former is more likely to win.
- The Strength Factor: Check for move strength, e.g. Ice Beam will do more damage than Aurora Beam.
- The Accuracy Factor: Check for move accuracy, e.g. do not make it that Dynamic Punch/Inferno/Zap Cannon hits every time.
- The Status Factor: Check for side-effects of moves and statuses, e.g. Poison Fang can Poison your pokemon, Mud-slap will lower accuracy, and the Burn status will halve your attack.
- The OHKO Factor: They are possible, but only if your Pokemon has a 4x type advantage and a move with reasonable strength, e.g. if Jolteon uses Thunderbolt on a Gyarados, the Gyarados will faint or get pretty close. With actual OHKO moves, use them sparingly.
- The Stats Factor: Who is faster, who is stronger, who has more endurance? Do a little research and check for HP/Defense/Special Defense to check for endurance, Attack/Special Attack for strength, and Speed for speed.
